Planning and Implementing HIPAA Compliance in EAPs




Purpose of the Course

This course is designed for professionals who are ready to begin implementing their compliance programs in EAP-specific sites. Basic knowledge of the HIPAA regulations and how they apply to EAP work will be a prerequisite for this course.

The HIPAA regulations require thought, planning and evaluation to be a successful part of your business organizational and compliance plan. This course offers specific suggestions, templates and strategies to help achieve that goal.

7 PDHs are availble for this course from the Employee Assistance Certification Commission.

Cost of training: Day 1 only, $295. Day 2 only, $295. Both days, $395.

  • Identify staff for HIPAA implementation working group.
  • Learn about the concept of gap analysis in relationship to HIPAA compliance.
  • Align HIPAA compliance with improvement of operational structure to achieve greater efficiencies.
  • Break down each portion of the regulation into specific tasks to achieve compliance.
  • Evaluate current resources to help support the HIPAA compliance effort.
  • Review sample templates of documents needed for compliance plan.
  • Develop training and facilitation plan for educational and organizational components of the regulations.
  • Learn effective ways to implement HIPAA compliance.
  • Evaluate the importance of ongoing monitoring with the goal to develop best practices.
